Many applications require precision thin-walled tubing like metal sensor housings — including those used in deep-sea systems — biomedical components and cartridge housings for defense applications, including precision bullet jackets and mortar ammunition.
Traditionally, manufacturing these deep-drawn tubes has been a challenge. At the same time, the need for them is only growing. At Sigma-Netics, we’re excited to announce we’ve recently added precision, thin-walled tubing to our product offering. Available in a variety of metal alloys, these new, deep-drawn tubes feature a seamless design and very low tolerances, meeting the requirements of many demanding industrial and precision applications.
The Features and Benefits of Our New Thin-Walled Tubes
Tubes are available as completely open or as closed at one end, and they come in various metal materials, including stainless steel, Monel, beryllium-copper, brass and bronze alloys. Using advanced tooling and manufacturing techniques, we can offer precision tolerances as low as 0.004 inch (in.) on the tube diameters, as well as tighter tolerances ranging from 0.00015 to 0.0005 in. on the wall thickness.
Tubes also feature a seamless design for reliable use in sensitive and mission-critical systems. Their production process begins with metal blanks that must undergo many deformation processes, resulting in a seamless design and smooth, homogenous surface compared to welded tubes.
